Ok, so we’ve harped on about RHI payments for some time now, but there is a good reason why and here it is so… listen up folks!

In 2011 the government, in order to lower carbon emissions and support the increase in renewable technology installations, wanted to provide homeowners and commercial settings with an incentive to move away from fossil fuel heating systems, and onto renewable heat alternatives.

This is why the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI Scheme) was born.

The scheme covers a range of renewable heating systems including ground and air source heat pumps, biomass boiler, solar thermal, and biogas boiler or combined heat and power (CHP) applications, and is seen as a necessary investment in supporting the UK to achieve its carbon reduction targets.

You Get Paid!

Following the installation of a system such as these by any accredited installer, the government (via Ofgem) over a period of 7 years for domestic installations and 20 years for commercial ones, will pay the owners of these systems (you) for each KWh of heat generated according to a set of published tariffs.

By installing a renewable heating system you are reducing carbon emissions, helping to offset the cost of replacing or installing new plants, and not only saving yourself money, but actually being paid by the RHI scheme whilst doing it.

The RHI scheme is due to end in March 2022 although the full incentive will continue to be paid for installations completed and commissioned before this date.

You can work out exactly what you could earn through the Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme through this handy payment calculator.

JEM Energy Systems Covered by the RHI Scheme

JEM Energy are renewable heating specialists installing a range of renewable heating systems across the length and breadth of the UK.

Our renewable heating systems are covered by the RHI Scheme, something we are able to discuss and calculate with our customers prior to their system installation.

This is a fantastic opportunity to not only play your part in lowering carbon emissions, but also save significant amounts of money on energy costs, protect your family from rising energy costs, and be paid for doing so!
